How We Build Together: IWSDK Collaboration
After Meta Connect, Evo Heyning shared an early look at a collaborative WebXR Hall and Library built with the Immersive Web SDK.

From Meta Connect to a shared space
Evo’s hands-on IWSDK workshop at Meta Connect led into experiments for the XR Guild Hall and Library, a volunteer-built community project, not a Meta project. The early work combines hand-built art, 3D assets, reality capture and generative tools. The goal is a social space people can visit through a URL, on a phone, desktop, glasses or headset.
A library that people can use together
The Viverse prototype is envisioned as an interactive library where small groups can search, discuss research, share projects and explore ethical principles in XR. A separate Arrival.space test includes a sky selector. The team is testing across multiple platforms, with a public opening planned for November alongside Immersive X. These are works in progress, not released destinations.
Designing for access
In the devlog, Evo describes IWSDK as an open-source way to build interactive worlds for the web. Tests with 60 simulated visitors prompted changes to the hall’s scale and seating so the space stays lighter for mobile visitors. The team is still iterating on access, navigation and performance across devices. Evo also raises a practical privacy caution: creators should review the terms before uploading their media to AI-assisted publishing tools.
What comes next
Evo’s report connects this experiment with the Phoenix: Resiliency project, future immersive documentary work, the XRGuide theatre and upcoming Virtual Worlds Museum Spotlight Series updates. Evo is the creative producer, with Patrick O’Shaughnessey guiding technical implementation and volunteer contributors building the space.
