    WebXR FAQ

    What is WebXR?

WebXR is an open web standard that enables immersive VR and AR experiences directly in your browser. No app downloads are needed, just visit a URL to enter 3D worlds, play games, or view AR content on any compatible device including Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, and smartphones.

What are the best WebXR experiences?

XRGuide curates the best WebXR experiences across art, music, education and games. Highlights include Moonrider (rhythm), Plockle (hand-tracking puzzles), Construct Arcade (classic arcade), and immersive music videos and spatial galleries, all playable from a browser link.

What WebXR experiences support hand tracking?

XRGuide features a curated Hand Tracking in WebXR collection including Plockle (spatial puzzles), Moonrider (rhythm game), Sneaker Art (sneaker customization), Monster Hands (Halloween MR), Maestro (orchestra conducting), and Masters Of Light (magic combat).

Do I need a VR headset for WebXR?

Many WebXR experiences work on regular screens as well as VR headsets. For the full immersive experience, headsets like Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, or PCVR work best. AR experiences can also work on smartphones and tablets.

How is the immersive web different from the metaverse?

The immersive web (powered by WebXR) is the open standards layer for browser-based VR and AR. The metaverse is the broader vision of persistent virtual worlds. WebXR is one of the open building blocks being used to build it, alongside glTF, USDZ and OpenXR.
