Our commitment
This policy covers the XRGuide website at xrguide.app and the XRGuide apps for iOS and Android. XRGuide is built on the principle that you should know exactly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can remove it. We take a minimum-data posture: we collect only what's necessary to make the app work and improve it, and we never sell your information.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you create an account or use XRGuide, you may choose to provide:
- Your email address — used to send newsletters and event notifications you've opted into. Always optional.
- Your notification preferences — stored locally on your device and synced to your account if you create one.
- Content you submit — if you submit a world, event, or press clip through the Creator Portal, we collect the submission details you provide.
Information collected automatically
When you use XRGuide, we may collect usage information to improve the app — but only after you give consent in the onboarding flow. This may include:
- Pages and worlds you view within the app
- Search terms and filter choices (in aggregate, not linked to your identity)
- App version, device type, and operating system
- Crash reports and performance data
Important
Analytics only activate after you complete onboarding and acknowledge the ad consent step. If you decline, no analytics events are sent. You can change this at any time in Library → Privacy & ad settings.
How we use your information
- To deliver the worlds and events you search for and browse
- To send newsletters and event alerts you've opted into
- To show you content recommendations — including, in future, clearly labeled sponsored content from vetted XR partners
- To improve the app through aggregate, anonymized analytics
- To respond to support requests and Creator Portal submissions
What we never do
We will never
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Use health, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation, immigration status, or race for ad targeting — ever
- Share your email address with partners or sponsors
- Send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in
- Track your activity across other apps or websites

We keep this list short on purpose.

We do not use advertising networks, data brokers, or cross-app tracking services.
Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, your data is transferred there under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Cookies and analytics
XRGuide uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how people use the app in aggregate. GA4 is configured to deny analytics storage by default. It only activates after you consent. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
On the web version of XRGuide, a cookie consent banner is shown on first visit. You can change your preference at any time via the footer link.
Advertising identifier
On mobile, your device provides an advertising identifier (the Advertising Identifier, or IDFA, on iOS; the Advertising ID on Android). It is a resettable, device-level identifier that is not tied to your name or email.
On iOS, we ask before we access it. The first time it would be relevant, iOS shows you a system prompt asking whether XRGuide may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you decline, we do not access the identifier and we do not track you. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
We do not currently use the advertising identifier for targeting. Our catalog is entirely editorial and no paid placements are active. If that changes, sponsored content will remain clearly labeled and will never be targeted using health, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation, immigration status, or race.
You can reset or clear it at any time. In the app, go to Library → Privacy & ad settings → Reset advertising ID. You can also reset it at the OS level: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Sponsored content
XRGuide may, in the future, display sponsored content from vetted XR partners. All sponsored placements are clearly labeled with a ✦ Sponsored mark and a "Why am I seeing this?" link. Sponsored content does not influence our editorial selections. Our current catalog is entirely editorial — no paid placements are active at launch.

How long we keep things

If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised statistics that cannot identify you may be retained, because they no longer constitute personal data.
Your rights and controls
- Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you by emailing us at the address below.
- Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from Library → Privacy & ad settings → Delete account, or by emailing us.
- Opt-out: You can unsubscribe from email at any time via the link in any newsletter. You can turn off push notifications in Library → Privacy & ad settings or your device settings.
- Data portability: You can request an export of your saved worlds and preferences at any time.

Children
XRGuide is rated 13+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us via the submission form and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in-app and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of XRGuide after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
